Beginning of Quranic Revelation
Almighty Allah reveals the Qur’an together and preserves it in Laohe Mahfuz. After that, according to need, Almighty Allah revealed Quran verses on His Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) in different places at different times.
The beginning of the revelation of the Quran is to have occurred in 610 CE when the prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) began receiving revelations from Allah (God) through the angel Gabriel. The first place of Quran revelation is the cave of Hira. The cave is located on the mountain called Jabal al-Nour and is about 3 miles from Mecca. These revelations continued for approximately 23 years until prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) death in 632 CE and were recorded and compiled into the Quran. The Quran is the word of Allah (God) and the central religious text of Islam.
When did the Qur’an begin to be revealed?
The Quran was revealed to the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) over a period of 23 years, beginning in 610 CE (According to wikipedia 22 December 609 CE) which occurs in the last ten nights of the month of Ramadan. This is further supported by the verse, ( إِنَّآ أَنزَلْنَـٰهُ فِى لَيْلَةِ ٱلْقَدْرِ ) ˹it is˺ We ˹Who˺ sent this ˹Quran˺ down on the Night of Qadr. (Surah Qadr: 1) when Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) was 40 years. The revelation of the Quran is considered one of the miracles of the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) and is a central belief of Islam. The Quran is the word of God (Allah) as revealed to the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) through the angel Gabriel and is revered as the final revelation of God (Allah) to humanity.

The Quran was verbally revealed by God (Allah) to Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) through the angel Gabriel (Jibril), gradually over a period of approximately 23 years, beginning on610 (22 December 609 CE) when Muhammad was 40. and concluding in 632 The last wahi came (6 March -632 CE) Friday the 9th of Dhū al-Ḥijjah 10 AH. the year of Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ). Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) Receives his First Revelation
Prophet Muhammad received his first revelation from Allah through the angel Gabriel while he was meditating in a cave called Hira, located near Mecca. The Hadith states that the Prophet was 40 years old when he received the first revelation. The angel Gabriel came to him and commanded him to “Iqra” (Iqra in Arabic), and when Prophet Muhammad replied that he was not able to read, Gabriel embraced him tightly and repeated the command to “Iqra”.
The first revelation that Prophet Muhammad received was the first five verses of Surah 96 (Surah Al-Alaq), which is considered as the first chapter of the Quran. The verses are:
1. ٱقْرَأْ بِٱسْمِ رَبِّكَ ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَ — Read, ˹O Prophet,˺ in the Name of your Lord Who created
2. خَلَقَ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَ مِنْ عَلَقٍ — created humans from a clinging clot.
3. ٱقْرَأْ وَرَبُّكَ ٱلْأَكْرَمُ — Read! And your Lord is the Most Generous,
4. ٱلَّذِى عَلَّمَ بِٱلْقَلَمِ — Who taught by the pen
5. عَلَّمَ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَ مَا لَمْ يَعْلَمْ — taught humanity what they knew not.
These verses were the beginning of the revelation of the Quran and the start of Prophet Muhammad’s prophetic mission.

Most of the scholars are of the view that the last verse to be revealed was the verse in Soorat al-Baqarah in which Allah, may He be exalted, says
1 وَٱتَّقُوا۟ يَوْمًۭا تُرْجَعُونَ فِيهِ إِلَى ٱللَّهِ ۖ ثُمَّ تُوَفَّىٰ كُلُّ نَفْسٍۢ مَّا كَسَبَتْ وَهُمْ لَا يُظْلَمُونَ — Be mindful of the Day when you will ˹all˺ be returned to Allah, then every soul will be paid in full for what it has done, and none will be wronged. [ Al-Baqarah 2:281 ]
